No, the Men's UA Matchplay Shorts do not have this feature, just the UA Drive shorts!

Why are the back pockets sewn shut in the middle? Somewhat afraid to cut them for fear of ruining them.

The stitching at the opening of the back pocket may be snipped/seam-ripped to open up similar to a suit pocket. This technique preserves the structure and integrity of the pocket.
